1. White Spots (Ick)
Cause :
- stressful, temperature, pH fluctuations
Signs :
- Small white spot, which may ulcerate
- Labored breathing
- Clamped fins
- Dwelling near surface
Treatment :
- Raise water temperature slightly and treat water with commercially available remidies
2. Fin Rot
Cause :
- Bacterial infection, Environment such as poor water quality, poor food, overcrowding
Signs :
- The fins turn white
- opague, inflamed
- fray or blood streaked
Treatment :
- Check pH levels and water temperature
- Use fish antibiotic such as Tetracycline.
3. Dropsy
Cause :
- Becterial infection of the kidneys,temperature level and aquarium condition
Signs :
- Bloated fish
- Protruding Scales
Treatment :
- The proper aquarium condition.
- Increase the quality of the water by performing a 25% water change every other day
- Increase the quality of fish food
4. Fungus
Cause :
- Bacterial infection of tail and fin, water quality
Signs :
- Cotton like growths on the body in white or gray color
Treatment :
- Frequent water chages
- Use fish antibiotic
5. Body Flukes
Cause :
- Poor aquarium condition, overcrowding, stressful
Signs :
- Gills moving repidly
- Reddened skin
Treatment :
6. Pop Eye
Cause :
Signs :
- One or both eyes becomes large, protruding abnormally "popping" or it out of the socket
Treatment :
- Improve water quality and frequent water change.
- Isolate the fish which has Pop Eye symptom in a hospital tank.
- Use fish antibiotic such as Tetracycline
